This was a while ago so maybe they don't offer them any more. I spoke with called the back office (they actually know what's going on) and found out that they only issued cashier's checks in the Boston investor centers and maybe only a handful or less. How do I know this? Well I asked and the rep. The caveat is that you can't get cashier's checks at most investor centers and you can't get one over the phone. But since it was suspended for covid you can't. Why because the info is actually correct you can get cashier's checks at a Fidelity investor center in person only. Some of the reps are just inexperienced and or new or just not smart in my opinion. Or whomever you talked to didn't know any better. The it dept or whomever isn't going to take it down for being out of date. The cashier's checks is still on the Fidelity site now I checked. So probably because of covid suspended it when there are walk in appts available. These are special checks that typically do not expire at some bank for 7 years! I believe the bank has to hold back the money until it is cashed. ![]() They kept a written log of it and if you even are a client they record it. Last time I got a cashier's check at a bank maybe your bank is different but you had to sign for it, they print the remitter on it and you can't write on it or add stuff to it. They should have explained that it is not sent by a FED Ex. No explanation of why just it's covid and here you go you can do everything else on the list which we know already but that doesn't help the person that wants or needs a cashier's check. I see there is a lot of confusion about this subject and Fidelity wasn't very helpful either. Cashiers check is no problem, but they are not free. *Only took a few minutes to get a new account opened at a "real" bank, they are also giving me a sign on bonus, which will more than cover the wiring fees. I never knew thank you for that insightful clarification. WTF? I explained that the website said they did and the rep told me he would transfer me to IT to get the website fixed. I called and was told by the rep that they DO NOT issue cashier checks due to covid. Being a long time Fidelity customer, I looked on line and found they do issue cashier checks. This transaction is with a private party which necessitates a cashiers check. I am in the process of purchasing a trailer (save judgement for another thread).
